Combination Tools (Plastic Strapping)

QST12, QST16, QST19, OHT16, OHT19, A333-P

A combination tool for steel strapping integrates tensioning + sealing (or sealing + cutting) — so you don’t need a separate tensioner, sealer or cutting tool.

Many are “sealless”: instead of using metal snap-on seals, they punch or crimp the strap ends together for a secure joint, meaning no extra consumables (seals)

You save on ongoing costs and sometimes get a stronger joint than seal-and-clip methods

They are typically used for 12mm/13mm, 16mm or19 mm steel strapping, suitable for heavy-duty packaging, palletising, shipping crates, industrial goods etc.

What to Consider Before Buying

  • Strap width & thickness — make sure the tool supports the width (e.g. 12mm/13 mm / 16 mm / 19 mm) and thickness of the steel strapping you plan to use.
  • Seal-less vs seal-based — seal-less tools avoid the need for metal clips/seals (lower ongoing cost), but might be heavier and pricier upfront.
  • Frequency & workload — for occasional or light usage a standard or mid-range tool may be fine; for frequent heavy-duty packaging, a heavy-duty sealless combination tool is often worth the investment.
  • Ergonomics & portability — some heavy-duty tools are heavier; assess whether manual operation suits your workspace or if you need a lighter tool.
